Golf Etiquette |
On Golf Day
- Call the pro shop if you cannot play
- Arrive at the golf at course at least 30 minutes before your tee time.
On The Tee
- Park hand carts away from the tee box.
- No talking.
- Do not stand directly behind person teeing off.
- Stand still.
- Watch landing of each players shots.
On The Fairway
- Be careful about walking or moving cart too far forward from person hitting ball. This makes some people nervous and can be dangerous.
- Be careful about talking or any movement that can distract the hitter.
- Replace any divots that you make or see.
- Limit your practice swings - save time.
- Play "ready golf".
- Be careful about hitting into the foursome ahead.
- Riders should keep carts quiet and still when players are hitting.
- Count strokes accurately.
Approaching the Green
- Park carts to the side of or behind the green after pitching/chipping on.
- Mark your ball if it is the line of another player's approach shot.
- Place rake in bunker after using it.
On The Green
- Repair any ball marks you make or see.
- Place your marker behind the ball.
- Span marker if it is in another player's line.
- Do not mark your ball after someone has started putting.
- When tending the pin, stand on the same side as its shadow and hold it straight.
- When placing the pin on the green, place it as if it is the radius of a circle with the hole as the center.
- Do not stand with the hole directly between you and the person putting or behind that person.
- Do not walk or stand in another player's line.
- Count putts accurately.
After Putting
- Leave the green and proceed to the next hole before writing scores.
- Keep two "official" scorecards per foursome.
- When people are waiting to hit onto the green, two players can move to the next tee while the others putt out.
After Ninth Hole
- Add scores for the front nine.
- Compare scorecards.
After Eighteenth Hole
- Add, check and compare scores on cards quickly.
- Date and sign cards.
- Take cards to Tournament Chair.
- Advise of chip-ins.
- Post birdies.
